What is NEET?

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a medical examination to streamline the process of admission. For the students who wish to apply for any graduate medical course (MBBS), dental course (BDS) or post graduate course (MD/ MS) in private or government owned medical colleges in India.

NEET has been introduced by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Medical Council of India (MCI) for:

  • A) Undergraduate (NEET-UG) Medical Course i.e. MBBS, BDS, etc.
  • B) Post Graduate (NEET-PG) Medical Courses i.e. M.D, M.S, etc.

Why NEET?

In 2012 the medical council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) introduced a common medical entrance examination also known as National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the medical aspirant who want admissions in the Undergraduate or Postgraduate medical programs in any government or private colleges in India.

Because of some reasons, the examination was delayed for one year by CBSE and MCI, and finally the NEET was conducted in 2013 as a standardized entrance exam around the nation for all professional courses. Once again this exam was canceled because of 115 petitions were filed in the supreme court in opposition to the exam pattern, and at the end, Supreme Court agreed to hear the MCI request to reopen the NEET case on April 11, 2016. Finally on 28th April judgment was out supporting a single common medical entrance test or National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).

In this academic year, NEET was held in two phases for the safe side option which did not appear in the first phase. NEET is really very helpful, as multiple exams are very not affordable by middle class and poor medical school aspirants. The medical seats allotted to the students will not change, as this is a centralized exam, so there is no redundancy in the aspirants for medical studies.

Benefits of clearing NEET

The primary intension of NEET is to standardize the entrance test for ambitious students who are facing many problems in multiple exams, even though they are talented but not getting admission. NEET will be held under the guidance and management of CBSE and will be replacing AIPMT and all other entrance tests by various colleges. It is very noticeable and excellent move to enrich the quality of medical education in INDIA. It is genuinely favorable and advantageous for students as well as institutes. Some of the prominent benefits of clearing the NEET are as follows:

  • Direct admission in the under graduation and post-graduation courses like MBBS and MD/MS.
  • Enrollment in one of the most reputed institutes of medical science in the country.
  • Guidance under the finest professors and leaders in the research fields.
  • Best of resource and exposure in the field of research.
  • Great boost in the medical career, with an excellent salary package.
  • “Dr” entitled to your name.

The syllabus of NEET will be based on class 11th and 12th standard’s subjects and medical council of India does describe it in detail. The syllabus will consist of four sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Zoology & Botany). The thorough practice of each and every subject will give better success to candidates. The NEET syllabus is prepared after reviewing various state curriculum as well as those developed by the Council Board of School Education (COBSE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT).
